EPA EN-SM2.0 – a spiral drill bit for metal with a cylindrical shank, designed for drilling holes in structural steels, cast iron, non-ferrous metals (aluminum, copper, brass), as well as plastic and wood. Made from high-quality high-speed steel (HSS, analog to R6M5), ensuring strength, wear resistance, and durability. Suitable for use in hand drills and stationary machines. The drill has a standard sharpening angle of 118°, making it versatile for household and semi-professional tasks.

Features

  • Type: Metal drill bit, spiral, with cylindrical shank.
  • Diameter: 2.0 mm.
  • Material: High-speed steel (HSS, analog to R6M5).
  • Overall length: ~49 mm (standard series, exact length may vary).
  • Working length: ~24 mm (exact length depends on the model).
  • Sharpening angle: 118°.
  • Precision class: A1 (ground) or B (rolled, depending on batch).
  • Hardness: 60–62 HRC.
  • Application: Drilling holes in steels with strength up to 900 MPa, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, plastic, and wood.
  • Standards: Compliant with GOST 10902-77, DIN 338.
  • Features:
    • Spiral design for efficient chip removal.
    • High wear resistance and heat resistance.
    • Suitable for household and semi-professional tasks.
    • Not designed for drilling hardened steels or high-hardness materials.

Advantages

  • Versatility: suitable for metals, plastic, and wood.
  • High strength and durability due to HSS steel.
  • Efficient chip removal thanks to spiral design.
  • Affordable price for household and semi-professional use.
  • Compatibility with most drills and machines due to cylindrical shank.

Application

  • Drilling holes in structural steels, cast iron, aluminum, copper, brass.
  • Working with plastic and wooden materials.
  • Use in construction, repair, furniture production, automotive repair.
  • Limitations:
    • Not suitable for drilling stainless steel or hardened materials (HSS-Co cobalt drills are recommended).
    • Do not use without cooling during intensive work (coolant is recommended).
    • Avoid excessive pressure to prevent overheating or breakage.

Instructions for use

  1. Check the drill condition: ensure no damage or dullness.
  2. Secure the drill in the drill or machine chuck, ensuring reliable fixation.
  3. Set the appropriate rotational speed: for steel – 2000–2500 RPM, for aluminum – up to 3500 RPM.
  4. Clean the material surface of dirt and rust.
  5. When drilling metal, use a lubricant-cooling liquid (oil, emulsion) to extend the drill’s service life.
  6. Drill with moderate pressure, avoiding overheating.
  7. After use, clean the drill of chips and store in a dry place.
